It has been described by the Kololo tribe who live in the area as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’, due to the immense spray and incredible sound made by the rushing water. Victoria Falls is now also known as the largest curtain of water in the world when the width and height are combined.
